Changes...
Excuse me while I play around with my blog format and make 300,000 changes! I promise one of these days I will have it exactly as I like it!!
New Mini...
I've been really busy these first weeks of the new year and I have nothing to show for it. Well that's not quite true, I have a gazillion lists, a hundred thousand plans, completed quotes, lots of measurements, different budgets. I also have fun stuff done (or almost done) like our baby registry and our nursery plans. Everything though, is still in the planning phases. Planning for what you ask? Well hubs and I were going to move into a bigger place as we are expecting our first child but I decided I didn't want to move and Ryan (who would be doing all the heavy lifting) quickly agreed. Not moving though means a lot of strategic planning as we only live in a 2 bedroom apartment and one of those rooms has been designated my art space. Unfortunately the baby is taking over the second room and my art supplies are being moved elsewhere. I mean FORTUNATELY the baby is taking over the second bedroom and I get the unlucky and tedious task of organizing my art stuff elsewhere. It's taking a lot of planning. Throughout this process I've learned a lot about myself, mostly that I am picky which makes the task even harder. Since my art stuff will be in our open living space it needs to look well decorative, nice, modern, etc. What does that mean NO RUBBERMAID CONTAINERS and endless hours looking for organizing ideas that I actually like. Task seems impossible.
Anyways, I have put aside my planning for now and decided to work on a project. I have started planning our babies memory book. Most of the paper has been cut to size (more numbers). Tomorrow I should be able to start inking the paper and possibly binding the book. I'm going to try and take pictures of the whole process as I think it would be neat to include that in my pregnancy journal and maybe the baby book itself...we shall see. In the meantime feast your eyes on just how thick this book is going to be. I still have to cut a few more inserts. I am beginning to question my sanity...
The inside pages measure 6 inches wide by 9 inches tall. Some of the pages have pockets, these measure 3 inches. Essentially I just took a 12 by 12 piece of card stock and folded it in half And folded the bottom at 3 inches to make the pocket. Easy peasy. These pages will make up the signatures.
Inside the signatures I have a bunch of other pages and fold outs. These are all different sizes with no rhyme it reason, just trying to use all my scraps. If you really want to know the sizes for cuts etc., just leave a comment and I will take some pictures and post the measurements!!
I used a few different paper collections and embellishments. I will do my best to list them as I go. The paper is mainly two My Minds Eye collections: Life Stories (see collection here) and I think Breeze (see collection here). The other paper is just plain Kraft card stock from Michaels. The recollections collection has really improved. The paper is a much heavier card stock, which I love! I picked these papers because they were very boyish but not babyish. I'm really not a fan of cute typical babyish baby stuff. I love the vintage look of the paper and I love that it is still baby appropriate.
If any of my blog viewers know how to type over top of photos without downloading a program and wouldn't mind sharing I would love to know! Would help me blog tutorials, etc. I use a mac if that helps (or hinders) the process :) Oh and if anybody has any organizing tips I would love to hear from you.
